Clearing the Cobwebs

It’s been a long time since I posted on here.  My last post was right before I left for Germany to compete at the European Open which was the middle of July.  Since then I’ve started quite a few posts, but haven’t finished them.  I start writing on a topic, but inevitably don’t finish it because what I have been thinking about and started writing about with regards to agility probably will piss some people off.  Because of that, I just stop writing and go on with whatever else I happen to be doing that day.  I know I should just write it and not worry about the reaction of others, but I haven’t been able to do that yet.  Maybe at some point in the future.

As for what’s going on in the asylum, some big changes are coming.  I’ll get to that in a minute, though.  As for the the agility realm, we did a few things in the month of August.  Onyx got her NA title (finally!) at the last AKC trial we did.  Both Luna and Onyx had a 1 day seminar with my favorite instructor, Dana Pike, a couple of weekends back.  Now we’re gearing up for the start of the new USDAA season in September, Cynosports and the Anna Eifert seminar in October, and EO tryouts in December.  I’m toying with the possibility of trying to get Onyx Q’d up for Cynosports 2016 since it’s in Scottsdale, AZ.  We could make the trip out there to have a mini-reunion for Onyx and her “birth family” who live in Tucson.  Also, this upcoming weekend Luna and I will be heading up to Madison, WI for the first EO Big Dog camp being put on by Coach Ann Braue.  I’m really excited to attend and see all the talent that will be attending along with Luna and I.

Now, for the big change.  My wife and I have decided to purchase a new house with land!  We found a smallish house for very cheap that had 2.6 acres of completely flat land!  We close on the house on Sept. 30th and hope to be able to move into it fairly quickly.  My goal is that next year once spring hits I’ll have a full set of agility equipment set up in my backyard so that I can go practice whenever I want!  I’m so excited about the prospect of being able to walk out to my backyard to practice whatever I want.  Here is a picture I took of the land when we went and looked at it for the first time.  This is from near the house looking all the way to the back of the property.

New backyard

There is enough land for me to have a 130×130 agility field along with all of the other stuff we want to do like get a pool and plant lots of fruit trees / bushes along with a nice sized garden. 🙂  Needless to say I can’t wait!
